Open Water Lifeguards
When working on marine locations, our in-water safety crew can be relied upon to provide proactive support – whether that’s a helpful float to rest on in-between takes, monitoring temperature and welfare of performers in the water (“one more, no more”), or standing in for talent whilst camera line up.
For locations that feature open bodies of water, it’s important to ensure the production risk assessment adequately mitigates risk of drowning from accidental immersion. Our safety crew are all highly trained in water rescue and first aid techniques, with enhanced medical cover up to HCPC-registered Paramedic available upon request.
For sequences which involve cast/crew immersion, we recommend testing the water quality to check for bacterial contamination. We offer a rapid testing service which can be accomplished on location (e.g. during a tech recce, and on shoot days), with reporting against Bathing Water standards for bacterial contamination including blue-green algae. We can also collect samples to send for expedited lab testing via a UKAS-accredited laboratory when required.
